SARA WEBSTER, ESQUIRE


Sara Webster, a shareholder in Mellon Webster & Shelly, concentrates her practice in criminal defense and the forensic aspects of mental illness. She also handles personal injury cases, particularly with victims of assault and accidents.

Since 1999, Sara has been the Chair of the Criminal Law Section of the Bucks County Bar Association which presents monthly programs on criminal practice and procedure. She has been a frequent course planner and lecturer at continuing legal education seminars on criminal defense topics such as sex offenses, DUI, and trial tactics sponsored by the Pennsylvania Bar Institute and the Pennsylvania Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (PACDL).  Sara currently teaches a class on Law & Responsibility to juveniles at risk in the Bucks County Juvenile Court system.

Recent trials have included: 

  • a successful claim of SELF DEFENSE by a client who was forced to use a handgun to ward off a mob;
  • a successful defense of a young father charged with AGGRAVATED ASSAULT after he accidentally scalded an infant;
  • a successful dismissal of charges relating to a driver who was found not guilty after the second-hand ingestion of MARIJUANA.
  • an analysis study of inconsistent emails and global positioning via phone records established an irrefutable ALIBI DEFENSE in a RAPE and IDSI prosecution
  • Following factual and expert testimony on the McNaughton standard of NOT GUILTY BY REASON OF INSANITY, the strictness insanity standard in the United States, our client was acquitted of AGGRAVATED ASSAULT, SIMPLE ASSAULT and related charges.

In the Doylestown Community, Sara is a dedicated naturalist and amateur ornithologist, as well as a respected trial attorney. She is a member of the Nature Conservancy, has served on the Board of Directors of the Peace Valley Nature Center, the Peace Center, the Bucks County Audubon Society, the Governor’s Mental Health Task Force for Women, the Sex Offenders Management Team and Buckingham Friends School.

Sara is a member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the Pennsylvania Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the American Bar Association, the Bucks County Bar Association and a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation.
