Carol Shelly joined Mellon Webster & Mellon in 1990 and became a named shareholder in 2002. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Gettysburg College, majoring in Political Science. Carol received her law degree from Widener University School of law in 1986 and went directly to the Bucks County Public Defenders Office. Carol tried numerous criminal cases to verdict, ranging from shoplifting charges to first degree murder.
Carol presently concentrates in plaintiff representation in personal injury litigation, having tried numerous professional negligence cases to verdict. In 1999, Carol secured a $4 million verdict for her client, one of the 50 largest verdicts in Pennsylvania that year. Carol has secured verdicts and settlements in the millions of dollars for her clients during her 19 years in private practice. Carol has briefed and argued numerous cases in the appellate courts of Pennsylvania, including the Commonwealth Court, the Superior Court and the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania.
Carol lectures extensively for the Pennsylvania Bar Institute and the Pennsylvania Trial Lawyers Association. Carol is former Chair of the Bucks County Bar Association's Civil Litigation Section and is a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the Pennsylvania Trial Lawyers Association, and the American Association of Justice. Carol serves as a member of the House of Delegates of the Pennsylvania Bar Association and was a member of the Board of Governors of the former Pennsylvania Association of Trial Lawyers.
Carol served with distinction as President of the Bucks County Bar Association, the second woman to serve in that role in the Association's 150 year history.
