September 11 Class Action Lawsuit

Currently, the Mellon firm represents the families of victims of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks against the United States. As lead counsel in the case, its attorneys filed a class action in the United States District Court, District of Columbia against the terrorists and terrorist Nations responsible for the attacks. On Tuesday, February 19, 2002, the law firm of Mellon Webster & Shelly, on behalf of seven families of victims of the September 11 attacks, filed a class action lawsuit against the terrorists and organizations believed to be responsible for the attacks. The purpose of the suit is to bankrupt the terrorists. The U.S. government has frozen the assets of at least 140 of the named defendants, but the government can not take title to those assets. The ultimate goal of the class action is to take title to all of the assets and give them to the families of those killed by the terrorists on September 11.

The seven named plaintiffs, Fiona Havlish, Russa Steiner, Clara Chirchirillo, Tara Bane, Grace Parkinson-Godshalk, Ellen Saracini and Theresann Lostrangio, will represent the families of all the victims of the attacks and have primary responsibility for guiding the litigation. However, participation by all of the families is welcomed and encouraged.
